Two Scudders Who Dearly Need To Be REMEMBERED

Nathaniel Scudder was a physician and patriot leader during the Revolutionary War. He served as a delegate from New Jersey to the Continental Congress, He wrote a series of impassioned letters to New Jersey leaders urging the adoption of the Articles, and when New Jersey’s legislature approved them in November 1777, he signed them for the state at Congress. Scudder dropped his medical practice to serve in the military, and he led a regiment in the Battle of Monmouth in June 1778.

Applications are now being accepted for Scudder Foundation scholarships. Scholarships are available to those applicants pursuing studies advancing careers in the areas of the medical arts, humanitarian arts and education, as well as ministerial and spiritual guidance Studies.

This issue has Puritan history about Richard4’s ancestors and American Revolutionary War history that features three of Richard “Betts” Scudder’s grandchildren, including his grandson-in-law John4 Hart, signer of the Declaration of Independence.
