The Scudder Assocation Foundation is pleased to post the CMC Vellore Foundation 2022 Annual report from John Riehl.

“We are pleased to announce our publication of the Foundation’s 2022 Annual Report, which reflects upon our continued efforts to support the Christian Medical College and Hospital of Vellore’s drive towards excellence in health care services, education, and research. A hard copy of the report has been mailed to your home and should arrive within the next few days. In the meantime, we hope you will take a moment to enjoy this digital edition, as we report on the impact of your extraordinary support.

In this year’s annual report, we highlight the historic opening of South India’s first Level One Trauma Center – CMC’s Ranipet Campus – while paying tribute to our donor community who so generously contributed to this ambitious undertaking. An interview with CMC Director, Dr. Vikram Mathews, also speaks to how the services provided on this new campus are helping to advance CMC’s mission. He also shares his vision for CMCH for both now and into the future. Lastly, we report on the life-transforming impact of CMCH’s various research, education, and service-related programs made possible through your extraordinary support.

We are eternally grateful to each of our philanthropic partners and individual donors whose generosity makes CMC’s work in research, education, and compassionate patient care possible. Thank you for supporting the work of CMC and the legacy of its founder, Dr. Ida S. Scudder.”

We invite you to read our 2022 Annual Report in full and to reach out to us with any questions or requests to learn more about our work.

Thank you again for your ongoing partnership and generosity.

Sincerely,

Mabel Haro
Director of Donor Development

In Honor of Mother’s Day, We Again Share Why We Love Aunt Ida: How Ida S. Scudder’s Sacrifice to Honor and Serve Her Ill Mother Expanded to Bless Millions

“‘’Illay,* Amma,’ the brahmin replied proudly. ‘I would not think of having a man deliver my wife: I would rather that she should die than be seen by another man. If you cannot come, I must lose her.’ Ida had pled with the husband to let her father, Dr. John, deliver the baby, but to no avail. She had even offered to go with them and do what she could under her father’s direction, but the Brahmin was adamant. She had no medical training: she was forced to let this husband go without aid for his dying wife.
