They ran, walked, jogged, and strolled.

It was a beautiful Saturday and a very worthy cause. A total of 124 walkers, runners, and joggers showed up to participate in the 5K Dash or Dally event on September 6 and they generated $29,661 to support the Christian Medical Center in Vellore, India. The fund-raiser was sponsored by the CMC Foundation and the New Dover Methodist Church in Edison.

Edison was the perfect location for the event. A suburban community 30 miles southwest of New York City, it’s home to nearly 108,000 residents, many of whom are of Indian heritage. It has a vibrant Indian community.
But it was a diverse group of participants that showed up to support this worthy cause. They were young and old and multi racial.

Mabel Haro, Race Director and Director of Donor Development for Vellore CMC Foundation, was delighted with the results.

Here is her reaction: “Seeing the Edison community come together with so much joy and generosity was truly inspiring. Every runner, walker, volunteer, and sponsor helped turn our very first race into a day to remember. This race wasn’t just about crossing a finish line—it was about moving forward together toward impact, both here in Edison and India.”
